Character POV?
Hi,
I'm very new to GW and have just started Prophesies. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to switch my character's view so that I'm looking through her eyes instead of at her? I believe that's 1st person view instead of 3rd person. I'm used to playing Oblivion, and was able to switch views. This current view is disorienting. Thanks |

You can use your mouse wheel to zoom in to the First-person view.

Yes, you can, but I would suggest against it. It's hard to get it at the right level. You're either staring at the ground or looking up too high into the sky.

it strongly limits ur view range, but it is just scrolling in that does the trick ;-) would suggest against it.

It's more important to survey the battlefield, especially as a Ranger. More, your mind will explode if you are going in first person and skill animations are all flashing around you.
I'd suggest you get used to the 3rd person view. |

first person view becomes EXTREMELY hindering when it come to playing in PvP as well. If you find you arent used to third person view, try it for a while in PvE and get a feel for it, you may find you like it better than the restricting first person view.

GW moves too fast to be able to keep up with everything in 1st person. And there are too many shiny effects, as well as large monsters, so you can't really see around properly.
Stick with the 3rd person view, you'll get used to it after a while |

First person view is not a best solution for GW, there is numerous reasons for that for one thing u can`t see all foes which means u can`t easily choose your target.Just scroll mouse wheel till ur satisfied with view u getting, there is a wide range of zoom +/- i`m shure u can find usable view point !!!

As said above, scrolling will get you what you want, but the flashy effects when you are hit or take damage will cause headaches quite frequently.

The only thing you really need to know is that we "must get to Cloud Ruler Temple!"

the 3rd person view in oblivion is pretty retarded, that i agree with. why they didn't implement a way to shoot arrows properly in 3rd person view is beyond me.

The only time I've used first person view is to get a close up of armors.
In almost 4 years of GW I've never battled in first person, might try that today. |

Regardless of whether or not you "should" use 1st person view - which is purely subjective - you switch between 1st and 3rd person views by scrolling in and out with the mouse wheel. (To keep you from accidentally leaving 1st person mode, it takes a few extra scrolls to zoom out.)
If the mouse wheel isn't working for you, checking your key bindings under settings. Last edited by Quaker; Mar 25, 2009 at 03:01 AM // 03:01.. |

Thanks everyone--lots of good input. I'm trying to play as recommended, but my game keeps crashing. I've got to work that out first so that I can get to my first mission and get out of the city. Is there any way to save my game progression so that I don't have to start from the beginning everytime I get kicked off?

Its an online game lol you can't save. If you get to a new outpost you will have that outpost forever kinda like a save.
